In the relationship between property formatting and Prod system settings, the concept of a “Basic Property Set” was introduced. However, when SolidWorks engineers design various parts, depending on the type and specifics of the part, different attribute columns may need to be used as part of the BOM column
For example, a designer who usually works in machining may also design sheet metal cabinets, which involves surface painting. Therefore, the painting color and spraying method may be listed in the BOM of such parts, which are the required attributes of the part.
Therefore, the Basic Property Set cannot fully meet all the needs of designers.
The Property Manager is a detailed and predefined tool designed to meet the aforementioned needs. Apart from the Basic Property Set, it allows for the addition, deletion, and modification of any single or multiple attributes. Furthermore, it can store all such modifications, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the BOM for any product by designers. It enables the assignment of any attribute and the extraction of any attribute by Prod, enabling the creation of a BOM in just 1 second
In general, the Property Manager is an extension of Property Formatting. Property Formatting only provides a one-click attribute assignment function for the Basic Property Set. However, the Property Manager can predefine one-click results and can assign attributes with utmost precision. At the same time, the Property Manager possesses the ability to handle all components with one click, regardless of whether it is adding, deleting, or modifying.
